IIT Hyderabad and JETRO collaborated to organize the "Japan Career Fair 2023," which was part of the sixth edition of "JAPAN DAY." The career fair saw participation from 20 prominent Japanese companies.
In New Delhi, the inaugural Japan Week 2023 was organized by the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad). This event marked the sixth edition of "JAPAN DAY" and saw the participation of 20 notable Japanese companies at the career fair, which is the highest number of participants since the event's inception in 2018.
IIT Hyderabad's Japan Week 2023 represented a groundbreaking initiative aimed at acquainting students with vibrant employment opportunities in Japan. The event featured the participation of startups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and major corporations from diverse industries, all eager to present their businesses and state-of-the-art technologies to attract students from IIT Hyderabad.
Toshihiro Mizutani, the Director General of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Bengaluru, has noted a growing interest among Japanese companies in India's engineering and scientific talent. This increased interest has led to a doubling in the number of Japanese companies participating in this year's Japan Career Fair compared to the previous Japan Day event.
JETRO has been collaborating with IIT Hyderabad to organize Japan Day since its inception. In 2018, the event featured the participation of 10 Japanese companies and large corporations. Over time, the number of participants has steadily increased, leading to the rebranding of the event as "Japan Career Fair 2023," with 20 companies participating this year.
During the 6th edition of Japan Day at IITH, Director General Mizutani highlighted the critical shortage of IT engineers in Japan, which has prompted many businesses there to seek motivated Indian professionals. The Japanese companies taking part in the event have high expectations that IITH students will play integral roles in driving technological innovation and global strategies. The former "Japan Day" has now evolved into "Japan Week," allowing for a broader exploration of Japanese culture in addition to its corporate aspects. It is hoped that students will not only gain insight into Japanese corporate culture but also experience and appreciate various facets of Japanese culture during this extended event.
Prof. Tarun K Panda, who serves as the Dean of International Relations at IITH, highlighted the growing significance of the career fair by noting the participation of 20 distinguished Japanese companies. This underscores the increasing importance of the fair in fostering collaboration between India and Japan. The year-long collaboration for the Career Fair and the week-long partnership involving Japanese universities, organizations, and initiatives between India and Japan demonstrates the strength of global partnerships and the exchange of technology. We are committed to nurturing these connections to facilitate mutual innovation and growth.
In various events, three companies actively participated in promoting various aspects of the collaboration between IIT Hyderabad and Japan.
