IIT Madras Pravartak aims to provide free career guidance training to 30,000 teachers and educators across India, enabling them to better guide students on their career paths.
The Pravartak Technologies Foundation at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras will train 30,000 teachers and educators from 10,000 schools and institutions across India through its Career Guidance Certificate program. Offered online in collaboration with BodhBridge Education, a company founded by IIT Madras alumni, the initiative aims to equip teachers with the skills to provide effective career guidance and personalized counseling to students.
The IITM Pravartak team will provide comprehensive support, including training materials and resources. Recognizing that faculty members are often the first mentors in a student's life, the program addresses the crucial need for formal training in career guidance so educators can guide students more meaningfully.
This free training program is aimed at school teachers, principals, university professors, educators, and counselors. The knowledge and skills acquired in the workshop will not only enable participants to better guide their students, but will also improve their effectiveness as educators and mentors.
The next training cohort begins on July 4, 2025, and the registration deadline is July 2, 2025. Interested schools and teachers can register at: bodhbridge.iitmpravartak.org.in/counselors.php. In the last six months, nearly 4,215 teachers from 22 states and Union Territories have enrolled in the program, and 976 teachers have completed their certification.
Highlighting the importance of this initiative, Balamurali Shankar, Chief Knowledge Officer at the IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, said, "Every child deserves guidance that helps them discover their strengths and chart a path toward a fulfilling career. With teachers trained in career guidance, parents can rest assured that their children receive informed and personalized support in schools, enabling them to make smarter academic and career choices from a young age."
