New Delhi: The Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Prof. T G Sitharam, took a significant step towards enhancing international educational cooperation by initiating discussions with Greece on October 4, 2023.
Prof. T G Sitharam, AICTE Chairman, and Dimitrios Ioannou, the Greek Ambassador, held a meeting in the national capital to explore strategies for enhancing collaboration between Indian and Greek institutions in areas such as joint research, training, twinning programs, and development initiatives. The meeting was also attended by Alexandros Boudouris, Deputy Chief of Mission, and Ismini Panagopoulou, First Counsellor for Political and Cultural Affairs. This summit is considered the initial move towards establishing stronger international cooperation in education.
Prof. T G Sitharam, the Chairman of AICTE, facilitated the discussion, with the participation of Greek Ambassador Dimitrios Ioannou, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Greece, Alexandros Boudouris, and First Counsellor for Political and Cultural Affairs, Ms. Ismini Panagopoulou. Fostering Educational Excellence through Collaboration Addressing the need for international collaboration, Prof. Sitharam stated, "Our future trajectory can only be shaped by recognizing and addressing our challenges and opportunities through cross-border collaboration.
In this era of globalization, educational institutions that shape a nation understand that having a narrow perspective limits our understanding. Therefore, we are committed to expanding our vision and creating a landscape that allows us to reap greater rewards," he added. Ambassador Ioannou supported this proposal and pledged to inform the Greek Ministry of Education about AICTE's intentions. Ms. Ismini Panagopoulou, the Political and Cultural Counsellor, assured her commitment to connecting AICTE with the relevant Greek authorities to promote this collaboration further.
Mr. Alexandros Boudouris, Deputy Head of the Greek Mission, emphasized the potential for mutual learning, saying, "We all have much to learn from each other's perspectives and realities." He also commended the Hellenic Indian Chamber of Commerce and Economy for their efforts in establishing the EUREKA - EU Research, Education, and Knowledge Alliance. The Hellenic Indian Chamber of Commerce and Economy organized the meeting, and Yogi Kochhar, the Honorary Commissioner Attaché, announced a scholarship for any educational institution that implements the "YOL" happiness program in their environment.
Havannsh Chawla, the General Counsel Attaché of the Hellenic Chamber, reaffirmed their commitment to developing a comprehensive framework that takes into account the bilateral economic and legal aspects.
