IP University's new pharmacy courses will be run under the Centre of Excellence in Pharmaceutical Sciences (CEPS) and will first introduced on the university campus.
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has received approval for new pharmacy courses from the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) from academic session 2024-25 academic session. PCI is the statutory body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and is responsible for the regulation of pharmacy education in India.
The IPU new courses in 2024 include DPharm, Bhparm, and MPharm in pharmacology, pharmaceutics, phytopharmacy and phytomedicine and pharmaceutical chemistry with a seat intake of 220 seats overall. These courses will cater to the need for qualified manpower in the pharmaceutical sector.
Initially, these courses will be introduced on the university campus and will be run under the Centre of Excellence in Pharmaceutical Sciences (CEPS). As of now, CEPS is offering only two PG programmes namely MSc in Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Design and MSc in Bioinformatics and PhD programmes in Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

Reportedly, the DPharm programme will have an intake of 60 seats, BPharm will admit 100 students and MPharm in pharmaceutics, pharmacology, phytopharmacy and phytomedicine and pharmaceutical chemistry will have 15 seats each, as reported by Indian Express.
The DPharm admission will be offered based on merit in the qualifying class 12 exam while admission to BPharm will first based on IPU CET scores and the remaining seats will be offered based on NEET scores. Besides, admission to MPharm programmes will be first provided to the GPAT-qualified candidates followed by CET applicants.
