Latest Update for JEE Advanced
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced is the final stage for Indian engineering candidates to get admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Every year, thousands of students compete for a limited number of places, making this exam one of the most competitive in the world. With the help of the recently announced JEE Advanced 2024 Cutoff Notification, let's delve into the basic details and understand the process.
The JEE (Advanced) exam is the main gateway for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). This year the exam will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. The performance of Students in JEE Advanced 2024 will be the basis for admission to undergraduate, integrated master's and dual degree programs (admission to 10+2 level) in all IITs in the academic year 2024-25.
Meanwhile, candidates who have appeared for the Common Entrance Examination Session 2 can check their results on the NTA JEE official website at jeemain.nta.ac.in.
JEE Advanced Cutoff 2024 is the minimum aggregate mark required by the candidates to qualify for the rank list. According to the official brochure, the minimum marks to qualify for JEE Advanced 2024 is 35% for CRL, 31.5% for OBC-NCL/ EWS and 17.5% for SC/ ST/ PwD. IIT Madras will release the final revision of JEE Advanced 2024 along with the result declaration on June 9. You also need to clear JEE Advanced 2024 to get into your desired IIT. JoSAA publishes this entry in the opening and closing lines of each advisory round.
The JEE Advanced 2024 cut-off marks reflect the minimum marks required by candidates to qualify for counselling and seat allocation in IITs. These cut-offs depend on factors such as candidate category (General, Other Backward Classes [OBC], Scheduled Castes [SC] and Scheduled Tribes [ST]) and the minimum percentage of marks required in each subject (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics).
General Category
As far as the general category is concerned, this year the cutoff has slightly increased as compared to last year. This trend indicates increased competition and better candidate performance. The minimum total marks for the general category are set relatively high, indicating an improvement in JEE Advanced performance.
Reserved Categories
The limits for reserved categories including OBC, SC and ST are generally lower than the limits for general categories to promote diversity and inclusion. But the 2024 limits for those classes also rose slightly, suggesting a competitive advantage among all groups.
Implications for Candidates
Cut-offs play an important role in deciding which candidates are eligible for the counselling process and ultimately for the IITs. Higher cutoffs mean a more competitive environment that forces candidates to focus on achieving high proficiency in all subjects.
Once the cutoffs are declared, candidates can now assess their performance and decide if they are eligible for counselling. Those who meet or exceed the limits can move forward in the counselling process, while others may need to explore alternative engineering institutes or other academic pathways.
