The exam dates for JEE Main 2026 Session 1 are from January 21 to 30, and for Session 2 from April 1 to 10, 2026. In its recent notification, NTA has confirmed the JEE Mains 2026 registration and exam dates.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the Joint Entrance Examination (Mains) JEE Mains 2026 exam dates on jeemain.nta.nic.in. The JEE Main Session 1 exam 2026 will be held between January 21 to 30, 2026, while the Session 2 exam will be held between April 1 to 10, 2026. The JEE Main 2026 registration date for Session 1 is October 2025. The Session 2 registration window will open in the last week of January 2026.
A major change in the JEE Main 2026 registration process is the auto-fetch feature of candidate details like name, date of birth, gender, photo and address using Aadhaar authentication from UIDAI. NTA is taking this step to simplify the JEE Main form filling process and reduce the chances of mistakes in the required details. Candidates will only have to enter details like their father's or mother's name, as these are not recorded in Aadhaar. The agency has said that in case of name mismatch in Aadhaar card and Class 10th marksheet, applicants will be given the option to edit the details.
A public notice issued on October 19th provided important information about the documents required for JEE Main and the exam centers. It was speculated that candidates would not be given the option to choose a city, and that JEE Main 2026 exam centers would be assigned based on the address provided on their Aadhaar card. Many students and parents feared that this move would cause more harm than ease to the registration process. If their documents were not updated, many would have to travel long distances, leading to more expense, hassle, and inconvenience before the real battle: the JEE Main 2026 exam.
An NTA official dismissed these claims as false; however, it has now been confirmed that the previous advisory to update Aadhaar details was misinterpreted. The NTA announced that it was "working towards increasing the number of JEE Main exam cities to provide greater access and convenience to engineering aspirants." The notice further stated that NTA is committed to meeting the needs and requirements of PwD/PwBD candidates appearing for JEE Mains 2026.
