To give students of classes 10 and 12 of JAC a clear idea of what to expect, the Jharkhand Board will conduct state-level model tests in January 2026.
The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) is finalizing the question papers for the Jharkhand Board Class 10 (Matriculation) and Class 12 (Intermediate) examinations, 2026, scheduled to begin in February and conclude in March 2026. The JAC has reportedly directed schools to conduct Class 10 and 12 model papers and booster classes during January to improve student performance following disappointing preliminary test results. The Council has not only completed preparation of the Class 10 and 12 question papers, 2026, but is also planning model papers and booster classes to help students better prepare for the Class 10 and 12 examinations in 2025.
This year, JAC is part of a pilot project involving seven state boards collaborating to standardize the structure of board exam question papers. The idea is to create a common model that presents students with a format more in line with competitive exams. Teachers from across Jharkhand have contributed to this project, writing questions that go beyond rote learning and focus more on application and analysis.
According to officials, the JAC Board exams for grades 10 and 12 are ready well in advance. They will follow the current structure—combining subjective and objective questions with practical components—but with a greater focus on conceptual clarity. Students can expect a more thoughtful and balanced exam that will test their understanding, not just their memory.
To give students a clear idea of what to expect, the JAC will conduct state-level mock exams in January 2026. These mock exams are designed to replicate the actual environment of the JAC board exams for grades 10 and 12 and will be key to identifying areas where students may need additional support. Based on the results of these mock exams, schools have been instructed to provide remedial classes to support lower-performing students during the period leading up to the final exams.
The Jharkhand board exams are scheduled to begin in mid-February 2026 and end in March 2026. Class 10 students will write their papers in the morning, while Class 12 students will appear in the afternoon.
In another important step, JAC has expanded its use of DigiLocker, making admission cards, scorecards, and certificates available digitally. Students have been able to access documents online since 2007, a measure that not only saves time but also improves security and accessibility.
The JAC 10th and JAC 12th model exams of 2026 are now available in downloadable format, providing students with a useful tool to improve their preparation. These exams have been developed based on the JCERT and NCERT syllabi to maintain consistent academic standards.
