New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has started the registration process for PhD admission 2024. The university has also announced the PhD entrance exam pattern and eligibility criteria to get admission to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes for the academic year 2024-25. The JMI PhD application form is hosted on the official website admission.jmi.ac.in. Department of Science and Technology - Innovation in Science for Inspired Research (DST-INSPIRE) or any other equivalent fellowship holders who have not passed any national level examination will have to “pass either the national level eligibility test or the university entrance examination to be eligible for PhD admission”, it said. The last date to apply for JMI PhD admission in 2024 is October 30.
Candidates who have appeared in UGC/CSIR-JRF/NET/AYUSH-NET/JRF exam or any other similar exam conducted by the department/university/department and GATE in research areas will be considered. by the DRC/CRC," the university said in a statement.
Teacher fellowship holders such as Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) awardees of recognised colleges, universities and institutions will have to obtain a “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) from the competent authority for joining the PhD programme and appear for an interview to discuss the research proposal. “Such candidates will have to submit a letter of study leave sanctioned as per the Government of India rules or the relevant regulatory bodies applicable at the time of admission”.
Applicants seeking part-time PhD admission will also have to obtain a “No Objection Certificate” as per the conditions mentioned in the PhD ordinances.
The JMI entrance exam for admission to the PhD programme will be conducted in English medium, except for the Language Departments and Fine Arts, which may set the question paper in the respective language.
The JMI PhD exam question paper 2024 will consist of two papers, carrying equal weightage. Students will be given one hour to solve Paper 1 and three hours to solve Paper 2.
The question paper will consist of 100 multiple choice questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark, on research methodology. Candidates securing at least 50% marks in the aggregate of Paper 1 and Paper 2 will qualify for the interview.
Only those candidates will be declared qualified who have secured a minimum of 40% marks in the interview.
