Jawaharlal Nehru University recently closed online applications for PhD admissions for the academic year 2025-26. As soon as the registration began, members of the student union began an indefinite hunger strike. The strike has been going on for weeks and is against the university’s decision to exclude UGC-NET June 2025 candidates and not to reinstate the JNU Entrance Examination (JNUEE) for PhD admissions.
