The delay is causing anxiety among applicants; the student union highlights the impact on PhD admissions at JNU and other universities.
The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) has sent an urgent email request to the Director of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and other senior officials, demanding the immediate release of the UGC-NET results for the June 2025 session.
In the letter dated July 14, 2025, the students' union expressed its utmost urgency and concern over the delay in the declaration of results. They noted that the prolonged wait is causing widespread anxiety and uncertainty among thousands of candidates who diligently appeared for the UGC-NET exam.
“According to the established academic calendar, the UGC-NET results are expected to be announced within the stipulated timeframe to maintain academic continuity,” the letter states. “However, the June 2025 results are still pending, impacting PhD admissions at institutions such as Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU),” it adds.
The union also emphasized the need to include the June 2025 UGC-NET results in the current PhD admissions process, calling it "crucial to ensuring equal opportunities.”
Signed by JNUSU President Nitish Kumar, Vice President Manisha, and General Secretary Munteha Fatima, the communication urges the NTA and the UGC to act immediately and issue an official notification clarifying the expected results timeframe. "This is essential to dispel the uncertainty prevailing among candidates," the letter concludes.
The UGC-NET exam, conducted by the National Technical College (NTA), is a gateway to assistant professorships and Junior Research Fellowships (JRFs) at universities and higher education institutions in India. Any delay in the release of results has a direct impact on the academic admission and career prospects of thousands of candidates.
