The Karnataka 2nd PUC syllabus has been revised for Psychology, Computer Science, and Home Science subjects. From the 2025-26 session, the minimum passing percentage will apply to new students, private candidates, and repeater students.
The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has announced revised passing criteria and syllabus for the Second Pre-University Course (2nd PUC) examinations. According to the notification, the Karnataka 2nd PUC syllabus 2026 has been revised for Psychology, Computer Science, and Home Science for new students starting from the 2025-26 academic year. However, repeater students will be allowed to appear for the exams based on the old syllabus in the current academic year.
KSEAB has announced that 75% attendance is mandatory to be eligible for the practical exams. These marks will be added to the marks obtained in the practical record book to calculate the final marks. Several experts have stated that this will increase the overall pass percentage in the state and also boost student morale.
II PUC students will now need a lower percentage to clear their exams. According to the revised Karnataka Board exam passing criteria for 2026, the overall passing aggregate has been reduced from 35% to 33%. Similarly, the subject-wise minimum passing marks for the written exam component have also been reduced to 30%. Therefore, students will need to score 24 out of 80 marks in non-practical subjects and 21 out of 70 marks in science subjects like Physics and Chemistry.
KSEAB has also announced that there will now be a system of "three annual exams," which will eliminate the traditional "supplementary" exam for students taking the board exams. This means that candidates who initially fail the main Karnataka Board 2026 exam will have two more opportunities to pass the exam and avoid wasting a year.
