SSC will not cancel 2024 exams; chairman confirms, re-examination likely only for affected candidates. Investigation underway
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has denied cancelling its recent recruitment exams despite allegations of irregularities and technical glitches. However, SSC chairman Braj Raj Sharma has said that re-examination may be conducted for the affected candidates.
According to a Times of India report, Sharma clarified that the commission is actively reviewing the complaints and considering the possibility of re-examination for affected candidates. He said, "There is no question of cancelling the entire exam. The problem appears to be limited to a few specific centres, and we are assessing the severity of the problem."
The SSC chairman said that detailed reports have been sought from the exam centres, and a high-level committee is investigating the matter. Based on its findings, the commission will decide on the further course of action.
Many candidates strongly criticised the exam and alleged irregularities, paper leak and server failure during the computer-based test (CBT). Many candidates demanded the cancellation of the entire exam and making a new schedule. However, the commission reiterated that any irregularities appear to be local and cancelling the exam en masse would be an injustice to genuine candidates who appeared for the exam without any disruption.
SSC officials indicated that a final decision on conducting the re-examination for the affected students is expected soon.
