Procedure for SSC Score Normalisation

Normalization will be carried out separately for each test, subject or area and involves the following three key steps:

Step 1: Converting Raw Scores into Percentile Scores

1. For every test, the raw scores of all candidates are changed into percentages. This shows how the candidates did compared to each other. The percentages make it easy to see which candidates scored better or worse.
2. These percentiles are calculated separately for each shift. They show how each candidate performed compared to others in their specific session.

Step 2: Mapping Percentiles to Marks Scale

1. All data from different shifts are combined into one set.
2. The data is sorted in order from highest to lowest (or lowest to highest).
3. Interpolation helps fill in the gaps in the raw score table. This allows the grading scale to have consistent percentile values

Step 3: Generating SSC Normalised Scores

1. After the second step, each group of people is connected to a certain raw score for every session.
2. This assignment is used to get the score that works for all candidates across all shifts.
3. The final result is a standardized score for each candidate. This score is comparable, even if they took the test on different shifts.
