Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnav, officially launched the NIELIT Digital University (NDU) in New Delhi, which will offer industry-specific courses in areas such as AI, data science, cybersecurity, and semiconductors. He also inaugurated five new NIELIT centers in various Indian states.
This digital university aims to make online education accessible to students in remote areas and villages. Students will be able to access various training courses and programs in trending technologies such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, semiconductors, and more. Vaishnav explained that the platform will focus on industry-relevant education to enable students to become part of the ever-growing digital economy.
On this occasion, NIELIT also exchanged Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Microsoft, Zscaler, CCRYN, Dixon Tech, and Future Crime to strengthen industry-academia collaboration.
In addition to the Digital University, five new NIELIT centers have been launched in Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Balasore (Odisha), Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh), Daman (Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu), and Lunglei (Mizoram). These centers will help expand digital education opportunities in different regions of the country.
Emphasizing a comprehensive approach, the Minister said, "The objective of NIELIT Digital University will be to provide industry-relevant education. It is our Prime Minister's dream to take education to every corner of every village in the country."
This launch is part of the government's initiative to make education more inclusive by leveraging technology to provide equal opportunities to rural and urban students to acquire digital skills and build careers in new sectors.
