The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has revised the age criteria for the WB Madhyamik Examination for the 2026-2027 period. According to these criteria, students aged 15 and above will be eligible to appear for the Madhyamik Examination. The state government, through orders issued on July 31, 1991, and October 28, 2005, established the age norms and minimum age criteria for students enrolling in Grade 9 and below.
“Candidates whose date of birth falls after October 31, 2012, will be considered eligible to appear for the Madhyamik Pariksha (Secondary Examination) in 2027. School authorities are requested not to submit the names of students whose date of birth falls after October 31, 2012,” the board said in a statement.
The West Bengal University Board of Education (WBSE) has announced the WB Grade 10 examination schedule for 2026 on its official website. Students wishing to appear for the 2026 West Bengal Madhyamik Examination for Grade 10 should note that the exam will be held in February 2026. According to the West Bengal Madhyamik 2026 schedule, the Grade 10 examination will be held from February 2 to 12, 2026.
The board has introduced several reforms to the secondary and senior high school curriculum. A semester system has also been implemented for Grades 11 and 12, and the inaugural Grade 12 examination will be held from September 8 to 22.
