Woxsen University has signed a memorandum of understanding with IBM India to catalyze industry-focused education across all business and technology disciplines, with the aim of bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world industry needs.
Woxsen University has signed a five-year strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IBM India Private Limited, establishing a strong alliance between academia and industry to advance technology education in its business and technology disciplines. The collaboration seeks to enrich the curriculum, provide practical industry training, and offer globally recognized IBM certifications.
This initiative, which spans the Woxsen School of Business and the Woxsen School of Technology, will particularly benefit students in the MBA (Business Analytics) and BBA (Data Science and Artificial Intelligence) programs, while also providing opportunities for technology students across the university. Through this collaboration, students will have access to IBM's cutting-edge business tools and platforms, widely adopted by Fortune 500 companies.
A key focus of the collaboration is student access to IBM's comprehensive technology ecosystem, including artificial intelligence, blockchain, and advanced analytics, enhanced with globally recognized certifications. IBM experts will teach select modules alongside Woxsen faculty, integrating real-world business scenarios and enterprise platforms into classroom-based training. The collaboration also facilitates internship and placement opportunities through IBM's extensive global network, and many students are expected to receive pre-placement offers.
Dr. Raúl Villamarín Rodríguez, Vice President of Woxsen University, highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership: “Our partnership with IBM is not an add-on, but a structural shift in our vision of higher education. By integrating business-grade tools and certifications into the core of our curriculum, we are placing Woxsen students on the same technological level as professionals from Fortune 500 companies. This partnership breaks down the traditional silos between business and technology education, allowing a business analyst to master the language of AI and a data scientist to understand market strategy.”
Dr. Hemachandran, Associate Dean of the Woxsen College of Business, noted, “The timing is perfect. As businesses around the world digitally transform, they need leaders who understand both strategic business principles and emerging technologies. This partnership produces precisely those leaders.”
