An overview of Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Electronics & Communication Engineering (Lateral Entry)

Electronics and communication engineering (Lateral Entry) entails testing, developing, designing, and researching electronic components used in many systems. Electronics and communication engineers oversee and conceptualize the manufacturing of different broadcast and communication systems. The stream of engineering does deals with the basic electronics, analog transmission, wave progression, antennae, satellite communication, microwave engineering, analog integrated circuits, analog and digital communication, solid-state devices, and microwaves. It does also deal with the manufacturing of some electronic circuits, electronic devices, and communication equipment. The degree aims to deepen the students' skills and knowledge on the basic theories and concepts, which will help them get equipped for their professional work.
In India, many colleges offer electronics and communication engineering (Lateral Entry) at the UG level and at the PG level, which leads to (Btech) in 3 years and (Mtech) degrees, correspondingly.

Eligibility criteria for Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Electronics & Communication Engineering (Lateral Entry)

The basic eligibility requirement to pursue the program of electronics and communication engineering (Lateral Entry) at the UG level and PG level is:
  • Undergraduate (UG): The applicants must have qualified 10+2 examination from a recognizable board with mathematics, chemistry, and physics as the main subjects. Moreover, the applicants should also have secured at least an aggregate mark of 60 percent in the above-mentioned subjects combined. Also, those students passed 3 years diploma in same stream are eligible to apply for B.tech (Lateral Entry) course.
  • Postgraduate (PG): The applicants should have a completed B.Tech degree in the same specialty along with the passing percentage combined at the degree level of the students.
