Introduction of Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Optoelectronics and Optical Communication

The MTech in Optical Engineering instructs students to construct optical instruments such as telescopes, lenses, and other equipment using light properties. Theoretical Subjects, Optical Engineering Fundamentals, Optomechanical Design Analysis, Optical Fabrication, and Testing, Guided Wave Optics, Adaptive Optics, Optical System Analysis and Design, and others are covered in the course.
Because this is a research-oriented course, it focuses on the ideas and concepts of physics and electronics. The programme allows students to gain a solid understanding of optoelectronics and cutting-edge laser equipment and technology. Students get well versed in a variety of light and laser applications. Students also learn about radiation, laser theory, laser engineering and applications, photonic materials, optical fiber communication, electromagnetic theory, and other subjects.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Tech in Optoelectronics and Optical Communication

B.Tech. / M.Sc. or equivalent with a CGPA of 6.75 on a 10-point scale or 60% aggregate for General Category with (a) GATE score of 300 or qualifying score (b) GATE score of 200 or qualifying score whichever is higher for SC / ST / PD category Admission is also available to B.Tech. Graduates with an IIT background with a CGPA of 8.00 who do not have a GATE score. AMIE / IETE Graduates are eligible.
Direct Full-Time Admission
B.Tech. / M.Sc. or equivalent with (a) CGPA of 8.5 or 75% in aggregate for General / OBC category, and CGPA of 7.5 or 70% in aggregate for SC / ST / PD category. For General / OBC, GATE Score > 300 or qualifying score whichever is higher, and for SC / ST / PD, GATE Score > 200 or qualifying score whichever is higher.

Scope of M.Tech in Optoelectronics and Optical Communication

Optical designing and production, Leather technology firms, and other employees are available to persons with an MTech in Optical Engineering. Visual Designer, Optical Fabrication Technician, Optical Manufacturing Engineer, Optical Scientist, Optical or Laser Technician, Opto-Mechanical Engineer, and others are some of the job profiles they can apply.

Benefits of Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Optoelectronics and Optical Communication

Engineers will have extensive knowledge of optometry.
For example, candidates can develop their practice by opening an eye clinic, optical shop, or lens production facility. They do eye exams and prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses after examining a patient's vision. Vision therapy and low-vision rehabilitation are also services they can provide. They will learn how to operate machines that polish the edges of lenses, harden them, and change their diameters.
As this is a research-oriented programme, candidates can choose between M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees.
Their monthly compensation ranges from INR 15,000 to 25,000.

Scope of M.Tech in Optoelectronics and Optical Communication

Students that excel academically in Optical Engineering are frequently offered careers in research, scientific organizations, and information technology. They can also work in civil aviation, the navy, defence, the plastics sector, optical design and manufacture, leather technical firms, colleges and universities, eye hospitals and clinics, and the ophthalmic lens industry, among other fields.

Career Aspect after M.Tech in Optoelectronics and Optical Communication

Astronomy, communications, biomedical research, medicine, scientific instruments, and control systems are just a few of the jobs available in this industry. Electro-Optics and Laser Theory research has created a new genre in the field of Optical Engineering.
Most optical engineers work in civil aircraft and navy industries, defence, plastics, optical designing and manufacturing, leather technical firms, colleges and universities, eye hospitals and clinics, and ophthalmic lens production.
