Lateral entrance means that students may be admitted directly into the second year of their chosen programme. Students are not required to enrol in a one-year programme; instead, pupils are led to a two-year undergraduate programme.

For lateral entry admission, each college has its own set of requirements. The duration of M.A. Education Lateral Entry is primarily one year, with the syllabus divided into two six-month semesters.
