What is D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education)?


A Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) is a certificate programme in elementary education. It is a two-year full-time diploma programme that prepares primary school teachers. It can be completed in a classroom setting or through remote learning. It's a four-semester programme that prepares students to work in primary and upper primary schools. The course is meant to include both classroom and practical training, as well as internships. It covers child development ideas, educational practises, and the teacher's role in student grooming.

 

D.El.Ed prepares future teachers to instruct pupils in elementary and upper primary schools, ages 6 to 15, in classes I through VIII. The programme is geared toward students who desire to work in the medical industry and are passionate about research and development. This course requires students to be passionate individuals with a solid ethical and moral code.

DElEd prepares future teachers to teach childhood and child development, contemporary society, environmental pedagogy, and many more.

The D.El.Ed programme focuses on current educational needs and child psychology and the learning, reading, and writing processes. The course aims to make students more adaptable and effective teachers provide high-quality education to their students. Internships are incorporated in both years of study to assist D.El.Ed students in putting the teaching skills they acquire during their degree into practice.

The NIOS D.El.Ed programme is created primarily for in-service, untrained teachers who work in elementary schools in various states around the country.

 

Eligibility Criteria for D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education)


The requirements for D.El.Ed admission based on the entrance or merit list is essentially the same.

  • Candidates must have received a minimum aggregate score of 50% or above in their 10+2 or equivalent exam from a reputed board.
  • Candidates who fall within the reserved and physically handicapped categories are given a 5% discount.
  • The age of the candidate must be less than 35 at the time of application.
  •  SC/ST/PH candidates are given five years of relaxation.
  • Admission to the D.El.Ed programme is dependent on either a state entrance exam or a merit list released by the state.
