The MBBS full form is Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is a five-year undergraduate medical degree program that covers various medical specialties to allow learners to develop an in-depth understanding of their area of interest. The eligibility criteria for MBBS program can be fulfilled by obtaining a 10+2 qualification in science stream with biology, physics and chemistry as major subjects, followed by an appearance in the NEET (Nationwide Entrance Exam for Medicine) exam.
The admission process for MBBS involves two stages: the exam and the counseling session. First stage, admission to the MBBS course is based on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) score. Second stage, during the counseling session, applicants can choose a college based on their rank, and after selection, they are mandatory to submit the compulsory paperwork to the respective authorities. The course fee structure for MBBS is said to range from INR 25,000 to INR 1.15 crore.. The MBBS course is taught with a curriculum covering a wide range of medical specialties, namely general medicine, surgery, and human anatomy. Students are trained on how to test for and supply cures for certain diseases.
Following completion of the MBBS degree, graduates become eligible to pursue careers as Doctors, Medical Officers, Surgeons, and General Physicians. The average salary of MBBS for these positions is Rs. 10 LPA. Top placement companies, including Apollo Group, Manipal Group, Fortis Hospitals, and AIIMS, hire MBBS graduates.
