Vinayaka Missions had its inception in the year 1981 with the establishment of the Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal (TKVTSS) Medical Educational and Charitable Trust. Not far from then, in 1982, the Founder-Chairman, Dr. A Shanmugasundaram instituted the Vinayaka Mission's College of Pharmacy in Salem, the pioneer institution of Vinayaka Missions. In the year 2001 the "Deemed to be University" status was conferred on Vinayaka Missions by The Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India, with the recommendations of the UGC Under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 as an acknowledgement of its excellence, satisfaction of the highest level of academic standards and best infrastructural facilities provided to achieve preeminence in education and by virtue of this recognition Vinayaka Missions trascended to becoming Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation (VMRF) as the 48th University in India.
The Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation is a private and considered to be a university. It was established in 1981. It is located in Salem district in Tamil Nadu, India and in the past, it was called Vinayaka Mission University. The Dr. Shanmugasundaram founded the organization.
It has been recognized by the government as an institute with high-quality education standards. Apart from that it is also known for having the most efficient infrastructure.

Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation approved by the UGC (University Grant Commission) and NAAC which has a rating of B received 151 for overall rating by the NIRF in 2020.
Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation courses are available at different levels, such as the Undergraduate Degree i.e. Bachelor of Science Honors (B.Sc. Hons.) Nutrition and Dietetics, Bachelor of Commerce Honors (B.Com. Library
Vinayaka Mission University gives students access to more than 1,000 online journals. So, faculty and students members are able to access these journals at no cost. Additionally they both have access an internet connection. Students can avail the benefits of a computer. Thus, students can study in a cool and peaceful atmosphere.
Hostel Facilities
The campus has Separate hostels for boys and girls. There are 6 hostels for girls and five for boys. Additionally, there is good food quality. Students are therefore happy with the food good quality.
Dining Facilities
Vinayaka Mission University certainly has fantastic dining facilities. It also has three dining halls that have seating capacity for 50 persons.
The job placement and opportunities was excellent in university. The campus maintains an average drive programs that is open to Management and Engineering students by inviting more than 35 companies each year. A few of these companies include UBS, Godrej, HCL, ICICI Bank, AXIS Bank, HDFC, Accenture, IBN etc. They offer a minimum pay amount that is 4 lakh rupees per annum.
Acceptance to Dental & Medical (UG, PG and PG Diploma) programs is determined by the scores obtained from the NEET Exam followed by online counseling which is administered through the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Govt. of India.
Acceptance into the BHMS Degree Programs is made by way of the marks earned during the NEET-UG Entrance Exam.
Admission to M.D. (Homoeopathy) The degree program is made through common counseling provided by the University in accordance with the marks scored in the regular PG Entrance Examination for AIAPGET which is administered by the All Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) on behalf of the Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India.
Admission to B.Arch. Degree program is based by a test score that are obtained from the Entrance Exam administered by the Council of Architecture (COA).
Admissions to other courses (UG, PG & Diploma) are made by averaging the marks obtained in the qualifying examination followed by a Personal Interview held by the university.
