Located on the south bank of the Jehlum River, the Women's Government College at Nawakadal is the only college for women in Sheh-e-Khas (Srinagar city center). The institution is committed to excellence in higher education and is committed to empowering women through an educational tool. It was founded in 1961 with liberal arts departments and a faculty of 19 members and only 50 students. Currently, it is the only women's institution in the Kashmir Valley offering business and management courses.
