Awadhesh Pratap Singh University is an autonomous institution in Rewa city, often called ‘the land of white tigers', in the state of Madhya Pradesh in India. The university was named after Captain Awadhesh Pratap Singh, an eminent freedom fighter.
Awadhesh Pratap Singh University is a teaching-cum-affiliating university with jurisdiction over 150 colleges in Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Shahdol, Umariya, and Singrauli districts. Furthermore, the name Captain Awadhesh Pratap Singh was the prominent son of the land as well as a fighter for freedom, influenced the name of the university. The Department of Biotechnology launched the Bioinformatics Centre, which is one of the Sub-DICs of the BTIS Network, which was funded through the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, New Delhi. The centre's primary objectives are to provide computer tools and training in fundamental bioinformatics to academics, students and faculty members in biology.
