On Nov 10, 1917, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj introduced in Delhi, his suggestion to set up a Memorial of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj withinside the City of Pune. In the proposal, he declared his intention of creating a central hall with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s life-size statue and a hostel to accommodate a hundred Maratha students.

The institute was to act as a rallying center for Maratha activities all over India, giving a concrete shape and impetus to the diverse endeavors for the advancement of the Maratha community. Rajarshi Chhatrapati Maharaj wrote letters to Rajesaheb of Dhar and Dewas and said it was a psychological movement to do the work. Demanding liberal and prompt support from all the Maratha Rulers, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj added that the matter stood very near his heart. To enlist their support, he sent Pawar and Khaserao Jadhav to them. Khaserao took an active interest in the education of the Marathas and was entrusted with the execution of the scheme about the Shri Shivaji Memorial. At the end of November 1917, Khaserao visited Pune and sent an estimate to Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj for the building, lands, and other things. The cost of the memorial is estimated at Rupees three lakhs.

On Dec 27, 1917, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, on a pressing demand from Khaserao Jadhav, presided over the 11th session of the Maratha Educational Conference at Khamgoan. Further discussions on the Memorial were conducted at Khamgoan. Thereafter around 7.5 acres were acquired at Bhamburda village in front of Shanwar Wada for Rupees One lakh. On Sept 1, 1921, Rajarshi Chhatrapati wrote to Lord Reading, then Governor General of India, to secure the Shivaji Memorial the honor of its foundation stone to be laid at the hands of his Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales. Despite a little reservation on the part of the Viceroy, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu, in his inimitable way, prevailed on the Viceroy to ensure the presence of the Prince.

Residential Accommodations:

AISSMS has two hostels for girls. They are named after Jijabai, mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and Tarabai, great woman warrior and daughter-in-law of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Both hostels are located in the heart of Pune city and are at a distance of 1km from the College. The hostels are very secure. All the facilities are very close to the hostels. The plan for the boys’ hostel is ready and construction will start very soon. Hostels are well-disciplined and regulated.

Library:

The library of All India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society’s Polytechnic is a valuable resource for students and faculties. It helps the students and faculties to get knowledge from different sources such as reference books, textbooks, e-books, magazines, journals, and modern e-learning resources.

Automated Slim21 software (System for Library Information and Management) is used in the library. It provides OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) facility to the readers for searching books, journals, and reference books available in Library.

Dispensary

All the students are provided with medical care and treatment facilities in the college dispensary

Central Computing Center

The central computing facility of All India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society’s Polytechnic supports the Educational and Research programs of Institutes by providing intellectual access to information. For providing this, the internet facilities with a dedicated 10 Mbps Lease Line Link have been established. The computing facility with the internet is provided with a high-end server and One Hundred computers. The students and staff members of various departments are using these central facilities for their research activities. For these activities, the central computing facility provides research-based software such as C, C++, Java, and Assembly language. The main objective of the central computing facility is to provide opportunities, adequate scope, and different educational amenities for the all-around development of the students and staff members of All India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society’s Polytechnic.

Seminar Hall

The college has a specious Seminar Hall with a seating capacity of 150. The hall is used as a venue for the organization of various College functions.

Placements

Training and Placement Cell is organizing expert lectures on various technical topics from industry experts to make our students aware of the latest technologies, trends, processes, and work culture. To give them more practical insights, Training and Placement Cell is taking the initiative to organize industrial visits. In order to boost their core technical skills, the Training and Placement Cell is organizing technical quizzes, mock interviews, etc. The Training and Placement Cell has initiated programs to enhance soft skills, the special soft skill training sessions, seminars, and workshops are also organized.
