Al-Kabir Polytechnic is one of the units of Kabir Welfare Trust (KWT). It was born out of the relentless effort and vision of the trustees of Kabir Welfare Trust, under the chairmanship of Late Haji Abdul Hakim. Kabir welfare trust is a society established under the society registration act 1860. The Al-Kabir Polytechnic was established in the year 1990 with the financial aid of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Jeddah. Since then this premier institute has been offering three years of diploma courses in six branches of engineering with great passion and zeal.

Along with this, over the years the institute has also ventured out into discharging social responsibilities such as spreading awareness in terms of health hygiene and skill development for surrounding communities to help them lead a healthy life and generate means of livelihood. In brief, the institute is actively partnering with government initiatives on social development and self-dependence. On and off the institute has also been engaging with other organizations for vocational training and employment for its students.

Library

The institute's Central Library is known as Sir Syed Library which serves as the perennial source of knowledge for the students as well as faculty members. Our Library is well equipped and well managed. Our library provides reading materials by the curriculum of various disciplines to help students to grasp knowledge for examination purposes besides their general mental development. A very rich collection of books are maintained with a total collection of 15835 books. The collection is growing day by day on various current and emerging technologies related to various streams. Two books are issued to a student for 15 days. Ten books can be issued by a Faculties.

Hostel

Al Kabir Polytechnic has two distinct and separate hostels, each divided into four blocks. It provides a home-like environment for the growth and development of its residents, ensuring at the same time attributes of discipline, care, concern, and conscientious disposition. It has accommodation for one hundred and fifty students in both the hostels. The Hostel provides accommodation during the operative academic session.

Canteen

Al-Kabir Polytechnic has a canteen facility inside the campus. The canteen is part and parcel of the students on the campus. Students may take a bite and carry on with their work. Snacks, tea, and brewages are served to students as well as staff members at a subsidized rate. The canteen has a large floor area for the students to relax. The canteen is situated at the back, of the campus. Pass-out students have a nostalgic feeling for this place. The canteen is privately run and is well managed.

Placement

Placement Cell is an integral part of the institute. The institute has provided complete infrastructure for the effective functioning of the cell. Training activities are organized throughout the year in an effort towards preparing the prospective students for the campus selection programs. The cell keeps on inviting various industries and reputed firms for campus recruitment.

Admission Procedure

Admission will be strict as per the eligibility norms laid down by the JCECEB, Govt of Jharkhand. The student should have passed 10th or 12th in PCM from a recognized board with at least 35% marks in their 10th board examination.

Lateral Entry: The candidate can also apply for lateral entry to a diploma in engineering through which they can get direct admission to 2nd year of a three-year course diploma in engineering. Such candidates must have passed 12th Science (with Mathematics as one of the subjects) or the candidate must have passed a degree in ITI (Technical Field) from a recognized institute or the candidate must have acquired a vocational qualification or a certificate course in the technical field after completing 10th/12th from a recognized board.
