Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET) Deemed to be a University has been established with a specialized focus on marine and maritime fields, which are economically sound, historically important, and socially essential. India’s first Maritime Deemed to be University for maritime-related education, training, and research. Overlooking the deep blue sea cradled by the Bay of Bengal and tucked in the scenic driveway of east coast road is AMET. The one and only University from India to be a member of the International Association of Maritime Universities.
AMET Business School, The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) an autonomous institution of the University Grants Commission has assessed AMET and accredited with an A Grade in September 2021.
AMET Business School courses are offered at various levels like Undergraduate Degrees i.e Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) in Computer Applications, BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration), etc., Postgraduate Degrees i.e MBA in Logistics Management, MBA HR (Human Resource), MBA (Oil & Gas Management) and many more. LibraryDr. VBS Rajan Library (formerly George TR Campbell Library) is fully automated through AUTOLIB-ILMS, Web-OPAC, RFID, Barcode and INFED Remote Access with a separate block of 2342 sq.m area in two floors, Wi-Fi enabled, and with a seating capacity of 700 members, air-conditioned reading halls and lift facilities. The Library consists of a large collection of books with updated editions in various titles and volumes. The book collections are available in the field of Engineering, Science and Technology, and Management including Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Management Studies, Marine Biotechnology, Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food Processing and Technology and Mining Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English, Career Information and Guidance and General area of studies.
Admission is based on an entrance exam conducted by the University.
The Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET) is assisting deserving students to get their scholarships from various Government Departments like Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu and Minority Community Welfare Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Director of Fisheries, Government of Tamil Nadu. Apart from Government Scholarships, deserving students are also eligible for Maritime Training Scholarship, Merit award, and Management Scholarship.
