The College of Science & Technology was founded in 1931, as the amalgamated Colleges of Arts, Science and Technology which was split in 1966, with Professor. R. Ramanadham as the first chief. The college is home to 20 departments as well as two units that run 30 M. Sc programs that cover the fields in Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, Abstract Sciences etc. There are also research and education centers within the college. These centers include the Centre for Marine Archaeology. Centre for Nuclear Techniques, Delta Studies Institute, the University Science Instrumentation Centre and Ocean Science and Technology Cell. Other departments have centers include for instance the Centre for Piezoelectric studies in Physics department, and Centre for Water Resource Management. Another center that is independent, namely, Mahadevan International Centre for Water Resource and Management named after the famous Geologist Professor. C. Mahadevan who was the former Head and principal of the Department of Geology, Andhra University which is currently in the process of being established.

1.) Many instruments from science are located in different departments within the college. In addition, the University Science Instrumentation Centre undertakes maintenance of the instruments. 2.) OSTC - Moriculture Laboratories which provide constant supply of sea water to maintain Marine animal species inside the Laboratories.

3) Scanning Electronic Micro Scope (SEM) in the Department of Geology.

4.) Mircopulse Lidar - Atmospheric Aerosol Vertical Profiling, with 30 meters resolution and up 60 km altitude. It is one of three facilities within the country's 3rd region across the entire country.

5) Created at Nagaram Palem-1990-Digital Ionosonde, which monitors the ionosphere. It is one of the six facilities throughout the country.
