Akarapu Sharath Chandrika Devi Memorial College for Women was founded in the year 1975 as an Andhra Balika Arts & Commerce Degree College. The college is affiliated with Kakatiya University and approved with a B++ grade by NAAC. The college offers Bachelor's and Masters's Programmes in the field of Arts and Science

In 1978-79, the college introduced grant-in-aid for B.A., B.Com (General) courses with Telugu medium 

In 1997- 98, B.Com (Computers), B.Sc.,Computers,B.Com.(Tax) and Vocational courses were started  as self-financed courses
