The college was established in the year 1961 under the aegis of the Dhamangaon Education Society- one of the oldest institutions in the Vidarbha Region catering to the needs of education since 1914. Situated on its spacious campus on Anjansingi Road, it is affiliated with Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati. It offers instructions in English and Marathi medium. The teaching departments are manned by competent staff and are provided with modern, well-equipped laboratories. The administrative section is computerized so that maintenance and retrieval of records have become easier.

In 1961, this college started with the faculty of Arts & Commerce. However, Science faculty was added later in the year 1972. Presently, this college is a multidisciplinary one, with B.A., B.Com.(Marathi and English medium), B.Sc., B.C.A., M.A. (Economics), M.Com. M.C.M., M.Sc. in Mathematics, Microbiology, and Electronics, Ph.D. in Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, Microbiology, Electronics, and Commerce. Junior College of Science, Arts & Commerce education. The college is a pioneer to start Microbiology & Computer education in the entire Vidarbha region since 1979 and 1987 respectively. College offers Computer Science as one of the electives in the faculty of Science & Commerce. Career Oriented Courses like- Web Designing Office Automation, and Clinical Laboratory Technology are also available. Information Technology (IT) as an elective subject is offered at the Junior College level. A faculty in Computer Centre is also available where various short-term courses are organized frequently. It was also a recognized Network Access Center (NAC) for the MS-CIT course of state Government.

Infrastructure

The college has extended the computer facility to all faculty and students. Faculty members are preparing teaching-learning aids using computers and their accessories. The college has more than 90 advanced PCs. The central computing facility is established at the Computer Center. A few departments develop their software to conduct practical and enhance the teaching-learning process.

The college has a good hostel building. The Students of our college can’t avail of the hostel facility as most of the students are locals and from a nearby area. Recreational facilities: Required facilities are provided by the parent society in the hostel. The college has a boys’ hostel with all the basic amenities. A first aid box is provided in the boy’s hostel. Capacity: 100 students. No. of Rooms: 27.

The College Library is Earlier was Housed in an old building and it is shifted to a new building. The total carpet area of the library is 664.52 sq. Mts. of three-stack rooms. Separate Reading Room for students and staff, Reference Room, circulation section, OPAC in the reading room, Librarian’s Room, and the Reprographic section adjacent to the reading room of students. The Library rendered Various User-Friendly Services like book circulation services, Reference services, Reprographic Services, printing services, Inter-Library loans, Book banks, etc. The Library Started Best Practices to provide effective Library services like Question Paper of Previous University Examinations, For a selection of Books Every year Library demands requirements from teaching faculty students, and nonteaching staff, New Arrivals are displayed, as incentive more three borrowers’ tickets are issued to the three topper students of every year. Research journals, periodicals, science newsletters, and magazines are made available in the library.

The college has a separate infrastructure for various activities on campus. Seminar Hall and Auditorium are available for extracurricular activities.

The college has a well-equipped recognized research laboratory with the maximum requirements for conducting research. All science laboratories are ICT supported and are equipped with LCD projectors to facilitate the teaching-learning process. The faculty members in the subjects of Computer Science, Microbiology, Physics, Electronics, and Economics have been working on the BOS of the S.G.B. Amravati University and contributing to curriculum restructuring in the last five years.

The college does not have a separate facility. Qualified doctors do an annual health check-up of all the students every year and provide emergency medical services, whenever required. A first aid box is provided in a boy’s hostel.

The college has sports and games facilities: Indoor Games: Carom, Chess. Outdoor Games: Volleyball court., badminton court, Kabaddi court. The arrangement is made with the Parent Body to utilize Mishrikotkar ground for the Cricket pitch. Track and field events.
