A.V.C. College of Engineering was started in the year 1996 and committed to social welfare. The founding father Sri S. Ramalingam Pillai sowed the seeds of A.V. Charities in 1806 in memory of his beloved son Thiru Velayutham Pillai. A.V. Charities began its educational services by starting the A.V.C. (Autonomous) college in 1955, extended their horizon to A.V.C Polytechnic in 1983 and in 1996 by opening the Engineering college. A.V. Charities serve as Beacon light in the field of education to innumerable youth, with rural backgrounds. We are very glad to say that we are second to none in enhancing young minds to compete the ever-changing global changes.

A.V.C College of Engineering is a pioneer institution and the first self-financing college in Nagapattinam District. We have been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and are also in possession of the ISO 9001:2015 certificate. We are moving ahead with the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for the Engineering courses. Our Mission is to make the institution a Centre of Academic Excellence. Library:

Our vision is to kindle the knowledge and support the education and research programs of the institution by providing physical and intellectual access to the information. It is one of those libraries which is well equipped with more number of Books, National and International Journals. For an effective Teaching learning process, the library is maintaining a special section that is incorporated with Educational CDs and DVDs in the fields of Engineering, Management and Science and Humanities. The Library takes more efforts in adding around 42000 books and 120 National & International journals every year to quench the thirst of our staff & students. Our Library functions from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on all working days. The open access system is adopted to avail the maximum utilization of the Library resources. To benefit the students, Library Hour is included in the Regular Time Table, which helps them in utilizing the library more effectively. Library transactions are maintained by the Integrated Library Management Software package with Bar-coding provisions. Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) facility is available to save the access time of the users.

Auditorium:

A multi-purpose hall refers to a building that serves to accommodate different types of events or activities. such as seminars, conferences and meetings, Convocation, department functions and etc.. Depending on the location, the operation of a multi-purpose hall may be associated with several environmental nuisances which need to be mitigated to avoid inconveniences to the surrounding neighbourhood Adoption of sustainable building designs (provision of sunshades/ awnings to prevent heating of the buildings, provision of double glazed openings to promote insulation for buildings, esp. with metal roof ) Rainwater harvesting for washing of premises.

Medical Facilities:

A Health Centre facility is available in the college for the benefit of students & staff members. Our health centre provides the following services:

1. Ambulance service is provided round the clock.
2. Bed facility available & First Aid for all diseases.
3. Checking blood pressure & stitching for First Aid injury.

Internet With Wifi:

All Department Computer Labs are connected with 300MBPS internet connection with Wi-Fi facility for the progress of students knowledge to face the competitive world also gives training for Personality Development.

Sports Facilities:

The college provides opportunities for students to participate in sports and games so as to make their stay on the college campus useful, purposeful and enjoyable. Facilities for games such as Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Hockey, Ball Badminton, Kabbadi, etc., and indoor games like Weight lifting, Table Tennis, Shuttle, Carom, and Chess are provided. Separate Gymnasiums with sophisticated fitness equipment are available for men and women for improving their physical fitness. As a part of the physical education activities, students are motivated to take part in the Intramural tournaments and Annual Sports Meet. Apart from this, students are encouraged to participate in University and District Level Tournaments, Tamilnadu Inter Engineering Sports and Games (TIES) and Inter-University Meet.

Transport:

Our Transport department is well engaged with eleven buses for the benefit of staff and students. Further Tamilnadu government state Transport Corporation, Kumbakonam, operates a special bus exclusively for students both in the morning and evening. A separate college bus is operating for the benefit of students and staff coming from Chidambaram, Kumbakonam, Thiruvarur, Porayar, Thiruvengadu and various surrounding areas.

Cafe/Mess Facility:

A Cafeteria is run by the college, for the convenience of the students and the staff of the college with a view to providing quality food and snacks at the lowest cost.

Admission is based on an entrance exam conducted by the University.

Placements

The Training and Placement cell is headed by the Placement officer and assisted by the placement coordinators from the departments. The placement officer is regularly kept in touch with the corporate to identify their needs and expectations. He is also acting as a liaison officer between the companies and the institute. Placement Cell at AVCCE is providing ample opportunities for young minds to sharpen their intellect and to mould soft skills through regular training programmes, interaction with leaders from industry and academia and industry interface through industrial visits and projects.
