Bagnan College, one of the premier institutions of Higher Education in West Bengal, situated at Khalore Gram Panchayat, P.O.- Bagnan, P.S.- Bagnan, Dist.- Howrah, began its journey on the auspicious day of 16th July 1958. Since its inception, the College is affiliated with the University of Calcutta and included under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956. The college is quite close to the Bagnan railway station and is also well connected with the National Highway No. 6. Initially the college started with Arts Department Teaching Humanities as General Course. Further expansion of courses continued and different undergraduate honours courses were opened over time.

Library:
The Central Library of Bagnan College was established in 1958. Since then the library has made consistent progress in terms of collection of books, periodicals, and E-resources. Recently digital enlisting of all available books has been started with SOOL (2.0) software. In addition, Institutional Digital Repository (IDR) has been constructed with D-Space software. Admission
The college offers three undergraduate courses – B.A., BSc, and B. Com. All the courses are offered in three shifts for 3 years- Morning shift – B.A, Day Shift – B. A and BSc and Evening shift – B. Com.
The process of application is online. Candidates have to register themselves as a new applicant on the college’s official website and after filling out the form, it has to be submitted online.
Eligibility requirements for B. A and BSc – Candidates should be passed in HS/ISC/CBSE/NIOS 10+2 examination with 50% in the best four subjects taken together and 45% in the subject sought for Hons. (5% relaxation for SC/ST candidates).
Eligibility requirements for B. Com – Candidates should be passed in 10+2 or equivalent and must have obtained 50% in the aggregate and 45% in the subject at the previous qualifying examination.
The selection for B. A, BSc, and B. Com is entirely based on the merit in the qualifying examination.
The college reserves seat for SC, ST, OBC, and PH (physically handicapped) candidates.
