Bankura Unnayani Institute of Engineering is a government-aided engineering school in the Bankura district. Late Jyoti Basu, the then Hon'ble Chief Minister, Government of West Bengal inaugurated this Grad Engineering Institute on 19 September 1998. It is the proudest recipient of the Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP - Phase II), a World Bank project approved by MHRRD. Inspired by the noble goal of education and philanthropy, a group of dedicated harmonious individuals founded this charitable non-profit engineering organization to achieve quality engineering in the service of the nation.

BUIE is celebrating 25 years of highly successful and rewarding existence in providing quality education in technical fields. The goal is to gain discipline, competence, and character among the technocrats and ultimately create a new generation of technologists who will pull the wagons of civilization even higher.

Facilities and Infrastructure

Hostels & Canteens:

The campus of the hostel is well-planned and covers an area of ??31 hectares. Separate hostels for boys and girls and staff quarters are located near the BUIE campus, available to students on a first-come, first-served basis. Staying in the hostels, students get a comfortable environment. Security measures are very strong in all four hostels for boys and girls. Girls' and boys' hostels have full-time security guards. Medical services are available 24 hours a day, as well as car service in case of emergency. More impetus is given to maintaining hygienic conditions and healthy food for home students. A hostel is also organized to accommodate nursing staff and former students. The hostel campus also has accommodations for teaching and non-teaching staff.

Computer Centre:

The institute's computer center is a central facility for students of any discipline of the institute as well as faculty and staff for computing purposes. It is centrally located on the first floor of the Central Library for easy access by anyone interested. The computers in the center are connected to the entire campus network and have 24x7 internet access. The center also conducts all the online exams and the practice period for the aptitude tests.

Anti-Ragging Cell:

Looting is completely prohibited in Bankura Unnayan Institute of Engineering if anyone found guilty of loitering and/or loitering is eligible for punishment.

Women’s Cell:

The BUIE Women's Cell deals with issues related to sexual harassment in the workplace. They follow the law on sexual harassment. They sensitize the community on gender issues and address the complaints of victims.

Cultural & literary club:

BUIE Cultural and Literary Club was established on the auspicious occasion of Rabindra Jayanti-2015 to motivate students as well as teachers and staff with co-curricular activities like singing, dancing, playing instruments, drawing, creative writing, etc. The club has separate wings for photography and filming. Various programs like Brikkhoropon, Foundation Day party, Alumni Day programs, Fresher's Welcome, Tech Fest, Cultural Fest, Rabindra Jayanti, and Farewell to students are organized every academic year under the banner of the club. The club also has a charity wing 'sports' under which local poor students and orphans are helped in various ways. A college magazine is also published every year, featuring creative writing by students, faculty, and staff in English, Hindi, and Bengali.

Sports Facilities:

BUIE was newly founded in 2015 to legalize and improve the institute's gaming and sports activities. Rakuke organizes annual sports, inter-university tournaments and also helps students to participate in various tournaments outside the institute. A committee consisting of the following members was formed to take care of and encourage all these activities.

Admission

Take the entrance exam organized by the university. Candidates who pass at least 10 2 exams and have the minimum marks prescribed by each testing agency from time to time will qualify for JEM and AIEEE exams and thus qualify for 4-year engineering and technology courses. The Central Selection Committee (CSC) of the WBJEE Board will then allot colleges and streams to the respective candidates in duly notified online counseling sessions depending on their standing in the above tests and the availability of seats in the streams chosen by the candidates. As followed in West Bengal, 80% of approved college seats are allotted to JEM-qualified candidates while 10% of such seats are allotted to AIEEE-qualified candidates. The remaining 10% of the seats are allowed by the government as administrative quotas for colleges.

Engineering and Technology graduates and B.Sc graduates with Mathematics as a graduation subject are required to pass JELET and obtain the marks to enter the 2nd year (third semester) of the 4-year Engineering and Technology degree program in the Co.Cseling Monitoring Committee (CouncilsCseling) semester mentioned above. Here, the quota is 10% of the confirmed admission for each subject in the higher education institution.

Placements

For more than a decade and a half, BUIE's Internship Department has evolved into an important intermediary that provides a bridge for career seekers. Preparing students for the work environment starts early from the first year by providing them with an introduction, and organizing workshops, seminars, industrial visits, and guest lectures by a group of professionals according to TEQIP requirements and guidelines.

The Department of Education and Training organizes regular professional and industrial training, and short training platforms for 2nd and 3rd year students through regular mentoring and guidance of departmental teachers with extensive industrial work experience. Our own Industrial Institute Collaborative Cell consisting of Institute members with proven experience in the field is always at the forefront and provides students with much-needed soft skills, relevant industry trends, and expert technical inputs in continuous collaboration with trusted partner organizations year after year.
