Baring Union Christian College was established in 1944. it's a Church-related College. The Church of North India, the methodist church in India, The presbyterian church of Canada, and also the presbyterian church within the U.S.A. are its co-operating bodies. together with its three sister institutions (Christian Institute for Religious Studies, Baring Collegiate Senior Gymnasium, and Baring School), the college is run by Baring Union Christian College Association (BUCCA), a registered society. Presently the office bearers of BUCCA are Rt. Rev. P.K. Samantaroy, Bishop of Amritsar Diocese (Chairman). The college is found in Batala (Punjab) on the Batala-Jalandhar road, one and a half kilometers from the bus stand and shut to the historic tomb of Shamsher Khan. the administrative offices are located within the historic summer palace of Maharaja Sher Singh. The sylvan surroundings of the college including a superb infrastructure provide a conducive ambiance for scholarly pursuits.

Library:

The college library has earned a reputation for its vast collection of books. The library building has a seating capacity of 400 students at a time and it can stock over one lakh books. The building provides all amenities for serious reading. At present, the library has over 1, 00,000 books on various branches of knowledge; It receives quite 100 journals/Magazines and 11 daily newspapers. Besides this, it's an honest collection of maps, non-book written language, and reference books material. The library collection is well classified, cataloged, and kept on OPENSHELVES in a systematic way. The scholars have full freedom to require any book of their choice from the shelves, read and acquire it issued for home use.
