Barrackpore Rastraguru Surendranath College is a UGC-registered college [2f below] and accredited by NAAC. A group of dedicated men led by famous social worker Dr. Satish Bose initiated the foundation of this institution on 19 September 1953 and named it after one of the most distinguished sons of Barrackpore and India. The institution was originally run by Debiprasad High School and in 1954 it was converted into an institution at 6 Riversidecutta Road University. Facilities and Infrastructure

Library:

The central library is automated with open-source library management software that uses Koha RFID technologies. The library has 61,000 printed books and 46 magazines on various subjects and subjects. A good collection of encyclopedias and other reference works are available for the benefit of stakeholders. Bibliographic information is available through the library's WebOPAC.

The library is a member of INFLIBNET consortium N - LIST (National Library and Information Service infrastructure for Academic Content) through which library members have access to 6300 journals and 1,00,000 e-books. The library is part of NPTel (National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning), an initiative of IITs and IISc to improve the quality of education in the country through the development of curriculum-based video and online courses. The library is an institutional member of Kolkata State BCL.

Sports Facilities:

The object has enough space to organize games, sports and cultural activities. Among outdoor games, students actively participate in cricket, football, basketball, javelin, kho-kho, kabaddi, handball, volleyball, swimming and athletics. The main indoor games are boxing, badminton, table tennis, karate, chess and carom. The college appointed coaches for athletics, football, cricket, table tennis, handball, chess, basketball, kabaddi, volleyball and kho-kho. The college also has a gym teacher. Gym equipment was also installed in the girls' hostel. Both buildings have special auditoriums.

The playground at 6, Riverside Road Campus is 79.20 meters long and extends to 69.35 meters in the north and 68.18 meters in the south. Students play cricket, football, kabaddi and kho-kho here. In addition, our university has a court 29 meters long and 18 meters wide, which is used for basketball and badminton.
