At a time when the need for a technical facility has become a priority for the development of the country's infrastructure, it is also difficult for the government alone to carry the huge burden of building such a facility. Keeping this view, it was felt that a new Diploma Level Engineering College should be established by an NGO in Birbhum, which can be called the cradle of modern Indian history. To make the dream of a diploma-level engineering college a reality in this educationally backward area, the voluntary Basantika Memorial Education Society was established in August 2007 under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act XXVI, 1988. After receiving NOC from the Higher Education Department (Directorate of Technical Education), the All India Institute of Education (Kolkata ICTE) is approved by the All India Govt. in June 2009. However, we still have a long way to go.
