The concept of establishing Bengtol College started in the year 1977. An adhoc committee was set up by educationally conscious and interested citizens of the locality to achieve the purpose. Time passed by, but there was no development in the official and construction works due to several reasons. Eventually, in the year 1981, a College Management Committee was formed to carry forward the works relating to an establishment in 1981, it took long 16 years to start actual classes. The classes were formally started on 1st August 1997 with 7 numbers of students in B.A. 1st year and 3 teachers.

The idea of founding Bengtol College was born in 1977. To achieve this goal, the educated and interested residents of the area formed an ad hoc committee. Time has passed, but for a number of reasons, official and construction work has not progressed. Finally, in 1981, the College Management Committee was formed to continue work related to the institution 1981, and it took 16 years for actual instruction to begin. Classes officially started on August 1, 1997, with 7 students in B.A. 1st and 3rd-grade teachers.

College has 30 acres of adjacent grounds and beautiful green gardens. The college has introduced several other career-focused college-sponsored courses from UGC. The university provides quality education to needy students and workers through distance education systems such as the Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) GU and Krishna State Open University Kanta Handiqui (KKHSOU) Guwahati, Assam.

Accreditation and Ranking:

Bengtol College is affiliated with the University of Gauhati University and Bodoland University and is Approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The college was affiliated with Gauhati University in 1999. The College is Recognized under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956, New Delhi in 2009.
