Bhandarkars College of Arts and Sciences in Kundapura is the premier college of arts, science, and commerce. This college was mainly made possible by a generous donation of Rs. 2,000,000 from Dr. AS founded. Bhandarkar, who was then practicing medicine in Bahrain on the Persian Gulf. Many prominent Kundapura citizens and the Rotary Club of Kundapura lobbied for the opening of this college, a long-standing need for discussion. In collaboration with the Kundapura Society (managed by the BASC Trust), the Academy of General Education, Manipal has taken responsibility for the education of this institution. The college was reaccredited by the NAAC in 2017. Sponsored by General Education Academy, Manipal, the college began operations in June 1963 and is now one of the progressive institutions of Mangalore University.

The university provides dorm residents with sports equipment for indoor games such as billiards, chess, and table tennis.
