Bidhannagar College, a purely government institution since 1984, is one of the best-affiliated colleges of West Bengal State University, outperforming most colleges of any university in the state of West Bengal due to the variety of subjects taught and the dynamic learning modalities it offers to the students under the guidance of inspiring teachers/professors. 

Bidhannagar College began its glorious journey on June 25, 1984. It is a public college under the direct authority of the Higher Education Department of the West Bengal Government. Originally it was located in a small building in apartment number 1.BF-142, Salt Lake City. From the outset, the college was designed to be a model of academic excellence. Although originally affiliated with the University of Kolkata, Bidhannagar College has been affiliated with the newly established West Bengal State University (Barasat, North 24 Parganas) since 2008.

In the area of sports and games, the university has a large playground with indoor and outdoor play equipment and a gym equipped with the latest fitness equipment. The annual sport, a regular annual event, involves the active participation of students, teachers, and non-teaching staff.
