Birla Institute of Applied Sciences (BIAS), Nainital was established in 1969 as Birla Institute of Scientific Research (BISR) founded by Mr. B. M. Birla, in the developing Bhimtal industrial belt. The Institute has excellent academic and Infrastructure facilities as per course structure and syllabus of affiliating University. For all-round development of students, the Institute has various societies/clubs such as cultural society, literary society, sports society, Google Developers Club and techno forum club.

The campus is fully residential and has 05 Boys' Hostels with a capacity of 300 approx and one Girls' Hostel with a capacity of 200 approx. The academic block and hostel campus has been facilitated by Wi-Fi. The facility of dispensary and Ambulance are also available to take care of the health issues of students and staff.

Infrastructure

The Institute has excellent academic and Infrastructure facilities as per course structure and syllabus of affiliating University. For the all-around development of students, the Institute has various societies/clubs such as a cultural society, literary society, sports society, Google Developers Club, and techno forum club. The Institute has duly constituted a Training and Placement Cell to take care placement and training of students. A large number of companies of repute regularly visit our Institute campus for providing technical and non-technical training and recruit our students.

Sport 

Institute has one football cum cricket field which is used by our students regularly mostly during early in the morning and evening hours. Seeing the hilly nature of the institute, this field is sufficient enough for students to enjoy their sports activities.

Adjacent to this field, the institute has one cemented basketball ground as well as two volleyball grounds.

The badminton court is indoor and students utilize their time by playing table tennis in the common area of the boys' hostel, the girls' hostel, and the institute also.

The institute also has a gym area where students perform their daily exercise routines.

Placements :

The student strength being quite small for on-campus placement, many companies are not in a position to visit Bhimtal, for a single campus. Therefore they go for pool campus drives in and around Uttarakhand; as well they use the premises of BIT Extension Center Noida, for placement activities. Some companies initially take candidates for project work and based on their performance, absorb them finally.
