Therefore, the college was founded in Bon-Hooghly in 1956 as one of the colleges in this program to provide higher education and was named after Brahmanandra Kesab Chandra Sen, the country's great Renaissance socio-religious reformer. The College was originally located at SagarDutta Free High School in Kamarhati and later moved to its current location in 1957. This college, registered with UGC (less than 2f and 12B), is one of the best colleges in North 24 Parganas. Originally affiliated with the University of Kolkata, the college has been affiliated with West Bengal State University, Barasat since the 2008–2009 session.

Canteen: 

The college canteen offers students discounted meals. Lecturers and non-college staff also use the premises and the cafeteria also provides refreshments for college events and examinations. The canteen has recently been renovated and the new canteen is obviously more student-friendly.

Girl’s Hostel: 

The college, recognizing a serious housing problem for students from remote areas, approached the University Grants Committee (UGC) for financial assistance. The three-story women's dormitory, built on campus by the Department of Public Works after receiving financial support from UGC, began operations in 2018. Bona fide students, scholars, and interns of all colleges, universities, and educational institutions can use the accommodation. 

Games: 

The college has a large playground that allows students to participate in various outdoor activities. Among the various outdoor games, football, cricket, volleyball, and badminton are regularly played. In addition, a sports meeting is held in this area every year. The college has two halls, one for boys and one for women students. The public areas are equipped with indoor games such as carrom, chess, and table tennis.
