Founded in 2002, Carmel Engineering College (CML) is a premier, self-funded co-educational private institution offering undergraduate engineering and postgraduate management programs. The College was established by the Carmel Educational Trust, owned and operated by the Church of Believers based in Thiruvalla, Kerala. Beginning in an idyllic location away from the cacophony of neighboring cities, the university has evolved over the years since its inception in response to the educational needs and challenges of a technologically expanding world. 

Carmel Engineering College is situated on a scenic and tranquil campus of approximately 120 hectares in beautiful forested hills approximately 1000m above sea level in Perunad in the Pathanamthitta District of Southeast Kerala. The campus, which is the center of knowledge, i. H. of unity with nature, is located about 1.5 km on the left, off the main road, 4 km from Perunadu, towards Sabarimala. The main towns nearby are Pathanamthitta and Ranni which are approximately 27 and 20 km away respectively. The nearest railway stations are Chengannur (approx. 43 km) and Thiruvalla (approx. 52 km). The year-round very pleasant climate and the pollution-free atmosphere make the campus an ideal place for scientific work.

It is also equipped with NPTEL e-learning courses, sufficient LCD projectors, audio and video CDs, CD-ROMs, TVs, VCRs,s and reprographics. There can be 300 users in the library at the same time. There is a Library Committee, made up of various departments, which advises the librarian on the administration, organization, and proper use of the library.

Hostels:

There are separate halls of residence for male and female students on campus, each offering space for around 400 people. Access to the dormitory is reserved for university students and the dormitory manager reserves the right to refuse entry. Hospitalization is for one academic year and is renewed each year based on inmate behavior during the previous year. A peaceful atmosphere with the utmost care and security is provided by services such as recreation, catering, medical care, transportation, etc. This stress-free zone helps students focus on their studies without distractions. Every Sunday and on special occasions, prisoners are taken to nearby churches and temples, and every Friday to the mosque. The Resident Warden, Deputy Warden, and a team of Resident Tutors ensure the atmosphere and discipline in the house. A nurse is responsible for first aid and necessary medical assistance. 

Transportation: 

day bus tours, consisting of a fleet of 17 modern college-owned buses, are offered today to students and college staff from various cities and cover all neighboring districts. Once a month hostel guests get free transport to the nearest train station or bus stop to get home.
