Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital, colloquially called Chittaranjan Hospital, is a public medical college and hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It was formed from the merger of the National Institute of Medicine and the Calcutta Medical Institute. Calcutta National Medical College is the new name of the National Institute of Medicine, Calcutta (Estd 1948), formed by the merger of the National Institute of Medicine (Estd 1921) and the Calcutta MedicalInstitute (Estd 1907) at 32 Gorachand Road. Calcutta -14. Since 1967 the College and Hospital have been under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of West Bengal.Hostel: Calcutta National Medical College has separate dormitories for boys and girls with equipped facilities like a TV in the common room, indoor games, and internet access.

The Institute has a total of 255 professors specializing in their fields. The preclinical department includes 42 departments, followed by 68 and 220 paraclinical and clinical departments. The program is divided into three main faculties, which are in turn divided into 30 departments, with each department having a specialist department. 

Placements: 

Calcutta National Medical College also has an internship cell through which each student is required to complete a one-year rolling internship, which is a mandatory part of the course and can be completed at any private/government hospital or clinic. The university offers all students the option of home care or an internship at the university hospital. The scholarship is awarded to each student at approximately INR 20,000 per month. The placement rate is around 95%, but all internships take place off campus in various private hospitals and are checked according to their standards. 

Admissions: 

Calcutta National Medical College offers various medical courses with different specialties. Recruitment is based solely on the NEET pre-test. Enrollment in the degree programs is via the NEET-UG, with 85% of the study places being reserved for the state quota. Postgraduate admissions accept the NEET-PG admissions test, for which 50% of state quota places are reserved. 

Scholarships: 

Calcutta National Medical College offers a variety of on-campus and state/government scholarships. The student may be admitted to the university's merit scholarship after obtaining points in a scholarship test administered by the College itself. Students are also eligible for various national and state scholarships based on their merits or a booking category.
