Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine is a medical institute from Kolkata, India dedicated to the field of tropical disease. It was established in 1914 by Leonard Rogers of the Indian Medical Service, a professor of pathology at the Calcutta Medical College. It was, till 2003, affiliated with the University of Calcutta.

The School of Tropical Medicine (STM) is one of seven institutions dedicated to the study, care, and treatment of tropical diseases. STM was founded in 1914 by Sir Leonard Rogers. The STM corridors have been regularly visited by eminent scholars such as Leonard Rogers, Ronald Ross, R Knowles, UN Brahmachari, JB Chatterjee, RN Chopra, and many others. The cornerstone of the School of Tropical Medicine was laid by the governor. Lord Carmichael in 1914, February 24, at the initiative of Sir Leonard Rogers. 

The school began its independent operation in 1921 in its own building with Lt. Colonel in research, postgraduate education, and health care in the field of tropical diseases. Essentially the objectives have remained the same and the school offers facilities for research, postgraduate education, training, research, and treatment of tropical diseases. Currently, the institute is under the West Bengal University of Health Sciences, which operates all medical colleges in the state of West Bengal. The hospital section of the facility is known as the Carmichael Hospital for Tropical Diseases. The institute has a center of excellence in which advanced research on HIV/HBV co-infection and antiviral therapy against hepatitis B is carried out.

The Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine has dedicated departments for all specialties and specialties. The college has more than 90 faculty members covering all subjects, including administrative members whose number tends to increase with college enrollment. 

The scientific staff consists of trained and qualified physicians with in-depth specialist knowledge. In addition to classes, they also offer interesting hands-on learning and show great interest in their subjects. 

Placements: 

There is no such higher education placement commission. However, the Indian government does provide employment in the country for people with an MBBS or higher education degree such as MD/MS. Various reputable hospitals such as Fortis, Landmark, and Tata Medical Hospitals also hire the best candidates with a salary package of around 2 lakhs per month. 

The university offers students the opportunity to do internships at their hospital and also awards scholarships to students, in accordance with government regulations. hospitals and research centers across the country visit and recruit students for a good salary. You can also get a place in the institute hospital. 

Scholarships: 

The Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine does not offer specific undergraduate scholarships. Vision

The foundation stone was laid on 24 February 1914 by Lord Carmichael, the then Governor of Bengal. Accordingly, the hospital section of the institute is known as Carmichael Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
