Admission in CDL Government Polytechnic is done on the basis of the merit of the applicants.
Candidates who are applying for the various Diploma courses offered by CDL Government Polytechnic through the lateral entry scheme should fulfill all the other conditions. Their admission shall be based on the merit in their entrance examination which is DET(L). Thereafter the candidates will be selected and the selected ones will have to participate in an Online Off-campus Counselling organized by NIC. They will have to pay a fee of Rs.500, which is mandatory, or otherwise they would not be allowed to attend the counselling session.

- Some of the fields in the application form include personal details of the candidate, address, qualifications, course applying for etc.
- They then have to email this form along with some of the documents mentioned in the form to an email id, which is given in the application form.
- The students are selected on the basis of their merit in class 10th.
- The selected students will have to participate in an Online Off-Campus counselling undertaken by National Informatics Centre for the final seat allotment.
- To appear in this counselling session the candidates have to pay a fee of Rs. 500. This step is mandatory for the candidates, failing in which they would not be entertained for counselling.
