Chanakya Community College, Raipur Community College, still a new concept in India, is a major educational reform; hopefully, community college, based on NSQF-based vocational education, will be able to address the present malaise of poor employability amongst the graduates. Chanakya Community College, the first one in the state of Chhattisgarh, is working towards imparting job and skill-based programs in the state. Chanakya Community College started under the IGNOU community college scheme in 2010 with 12 approved vocational programs; however due to the closing down of the IGNOU scheme in 2012, Chanakya got approved by AICTE under NTI – Non-Technical Institute scheme of AICTE - for three vocational programs but could not get affiliated to CSVTU, the state technical university due to CSVTU not having the provision for affiliation of community colleges.

Admission

B Sc or undergraduate diploma programs

Admission to a one-year diploma, 2 years of advanced diplomas, and 3 years BVoc and B Sc Programs is open to students having passed the class XII exam of the state or central board or their equivalent. The admission is based on the merit and aptitude for the program in which the student is seeking admission. Students must apply for admission and submit the certificates mark sheets of qualifying examinations and other credentials. If the student meets the minimum qualification laid down for admission, he or she would be called for an interview and if successful in the interview she would be offered admission. The student has to pay the course fee within 3 days of the seat being offered.
