CNLU was established under the Chanakya National Law University Act, 2006 (Bihar Act No. 24 of 2006) and included in Section 2 (f) and eligible under 12 (B) of the UGC Act, 1956 and is approved by the Bar Council of India.
Chanakya National Law University is a public law faculty and a National law University in Patna, Bihar, India. It was established in 2006 by the Government of Bihar as a public college committed to the sphere of felony education. The Chief Justice of Patna High Court is the ex officio chancellor of the college.
