Chanchal College is a premier College in North Malda. It was established on 26th August 1969 to impart higher education to the students of North Malda which is the most backward minority-concentrated region. It is presently affiliated with the University of Gour Banga. It is housed at the heritage building of Chanchal Palace. The emblem bears the rising sun over an atomic structure which signifies the aspiration and achievement of mankind in the field of knowledge.

Infrastructure and Facilities

Library:

The College has a well-stocked Library. It possesses a good number of books. In addition to the regular working period, during Summer Recess and Winter Recess, students can borrow books from the College Library. 

Sports Complex:

The college also provides special coaching to the athletes, Food ball Players, Kho-Kho Players, and Volley ballplayers.

I.T Infrastructure:

The College has two computer laboratories with AC that have been prepared for the Dept. Of Science and Geography.

Cafeteria:

The College has a canteen with all the necessary facilities that will be installed shortly within the College Campus. The canteen is open for students, teachers and all other staff members during office hours.

The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars.

Admission

Only regular students who passed Higher Secondary in 2020 or after are only eligible to apply as per the University of Gour Banga Norms.

Admission to all Courses is done strictly based on merit. Certain percentages of seats are reserved for S.C./S.T. and other reserve category Candidates according to the Government norms.

For admission to an Honours course, students must have to obtain pass marks in aggregate in the 10+2 Examination and pass marks in the subject of Honours.

Students seeking admission to the subject of Geography (Hons) must have passed Geography in the H.S. Course. Students having Mathematics as one of the subjects in the H.S. level and have passed the same are only eligible for getting admission to Economics Honours.

A candidate who passed more than two years before the current academic session is not eligible for admission.
