Chandmal Tarachand Bora Arts, Commerce and Science College, Shirur, affiliated to the Savitribai Phule Pune University (formerly University of Pune) was established in 1968 by Shirur Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, a local educational trust, with the primary aim of providing quality higher education to the educationally and socially backward local community. The college is situated in a predominantly agrarian community consisting largely of economically and socially backward rural and tribal populations. The Shirur Shikshan Prasarak Mandal was initiated by a few philanthropists and social visionaries to spread education among the local population.

Library:
The Chandmal Tarachand Bora College Library was established in 1968. Right from its inception, it has become the “heart of the campus”. The library occupies a prominent and integral part in the teaching and learning process of the institution. The growth and development of the library go hand-in-hand with that of the increasing number of readers and their demands. Initially, the library had a collection of 2000 books (in 1968), which has now increased to more than 80,000 books, 49 print journals, and more than 6000+ e-journals. The library work is administered by Library Committee. The library is spread across a total area of 10,500 sq. ft. The various sections of the library are Circulation Counter, Office Area, Periodicals Sections, Under Graduate/ Junior College Stack Room, Post Graduate & Research Stack Room, UGC-Network Resource Centre, Reprographic Room, Book Exhibition Area, Teachers Reading Hall, PG/Research Reading Hall, Boys Reading Hall, Girls Reading Hall, UPS-Battery Room, and Store Room.
Aims & objectives of the college library:
The library aims to fulfill all kinds of educational, informational, and recreational needs of the students, teachers, researchers, and other users by providing them with a wide range of books, periodicals, reference books, famous literary works, rare books, and audio-visual aids.
The College library plays the role of a counselor to the students rather than a caretaker of the book collection and engaged in technical services of acquisition, classifying, cataloging, and lending books to the members.
Sports:
The college has a separate Sports and Physical Education center. The Gymkhana building consists of an Office room for the Head of Physical Education which is both a record room and monitoring center. The Multipurpose Gymnasium supports all types of indoor and outdoor sports like Weight Lifting, Wrestling, Boxing, Chess, Carom, Table Tennis, Kabaddi, Kho – Kho, Volleyball, Football, Hockey, and Athletics, etc. The Gymkhana Hall contains facilities for Indoor Games such as weight lifting sets, foam mats for wrestling, boxing set, chess and carom boards, table tennis, and other equipment. A maximum number of students avail the sports facilities. Outdoor Game Facilities - Outside the building, we have single-bar and double-bar sets for exercises. We also have Kabaddi, Kho – Kho, Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Hockey, and Athletics grounds for regular practice and competitions. The present infrastructure facilities enable students (both boys and girls) to take part in the following competitions at the Intercollegiate, Inter Group, and Inter-University levels.
Hostel Facilities:
The College has separate Girls and Boys Hostel with a capacity of 150 girls and 100 boys respectively. The hostels are equipped with a Solar Water heating system, RO Water Purification System with a Cooler facility, Recreation Hall, Dining Area, and Spacious rooms with attached toilet and bathroom facilities. The hostels are having CCTV surveillance and the Hostel Committee looks after the Management of the Hostel.
Canteen:
The College provides a Canteen facility for Staff and students which is located near the main entrance of the college. The Canteen Committee monitors the quality of food, hygiene, and items provided. The rates of the items are affordable to rural students. The Canteen Premises are under CCTV Surveillance.
Admission Procedure:
While taking admission to different courses, students are made aware of the following things.
First, students should understand the rules, regulations, and syllabus details of the courses provided. They have to fill up an online admission form on the C.T.Bora College website http://ctbora.vriddhionline.com. Admissions should be taken as per the schedule made by the College.
The students after filling up the Online admission form should visit the College to check the Admission Schedule and should check the Admission updates on the College Website.
Students have to submit the following documents to take admission in the First Year of all courses-
Leaving Certificate.
Attested copy of 12th std. mark sheet.
Fees concession form in a pre-defined format.
Caste Certificate for reserved categories.
Migration Certificate for students from other universities.
Income Certificate (from Tahsildar)
Aadhar Card (Attested Copy)
A photocopy of the first page of Nationalized Bank Savings Account Passbook.
