Chandrapur College was established in the year 1985 and is located in a relatively backward rural region of the Burdwan District of West Bengal. The vision of the College is to spread the light of knowledge among the learners of the poor, backward, and Minority Communities, particularly, emancipating the girl students from the darkness of ignorance and leading them towards the world of knowledge and self-reliance. From its very inception, the College attempted to embrace the traditional wisdom and value system of the country as its founding base and side by side tried to develop the modern and scientific outlook amongst the learners as well as in the social surroundings they belong to. To extend all-out support to the students and maintain a learner-friendly atmosphere in the campus has remained the perennial mission of the College. Even after three decades of the establishment of the College, first-generation learners constitute a major part of the student folk. Chandrapur College visualizes it to be a great challenge to make them reach the doorstep of the world of modern knowledge.

Infrastructure and Facilities

Library:

There is a methodically furnished Library in the College. Keeping in view the need of the poor students of rural areas the Library has a considerable accession of nearly 20,000 books on various subjects. To borrow books from the College Library students must, at first, avail themselves of ‘not transferable’ Library cards. Every student must obtain a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the Librarian on return of all his / her borrowed book(s) at the end of each academic year. Failure to this rule will render him / her liable to be prevented from filling in the Form for appearing in the final University Examinations of the respective year. While reading in the Library Reading Room the students will remain aware that they make no noise and keep quiet in the room.

Cafeteria:

The College has a privately run Canteen. It’s a resting place for early-comers and late-goers. One may have refreshments by taking tea or coffee here along with biscuits and snacks. Ex-students cherish a nostalgic feeling for the place.

Medical Facilities:

The College Health Care Unit has been established in the year 2008 to build up the medical awareness of the students. Health Check-up Camps are arranged every year on the College premises with the help of volunteer physicians and medical persons from outside. Necessary first aid, medicines, and types of equipment are available in this unit.

Gym:

The College has a Gym facility for the students. Multi-gym for physical exercises under the supervision of a trained instructor, separately for boys and girls.

Sports Complex:

There are provisions for both outdoor and indoor games in the College. There are provisions for playing Table Tennis and Carrom Board in the Common Rooms for the boys and for the girls. Of the outdoor games provided by the College Football, Cricket, Volleyball, Kabaddi, and Kho- Kho are the main ones. Besides, where the students can have physical exercise and health training with the aid of various modern equipment and implements under the guidance and supervision of the Physical Education Teacher and Instructor.

Madhyamik and H.S. Admit and Mark Sheets, S.C./S.T./O.B.C. – A/ O.B.C. – B certificate and Physically Handicap Certificate – as the case may be – all in original, must be produced at the time of confirmation of admission.
